Matthew Van Dyke is Director of Choral Activities at Cambridge High School in Milton, GA where he conducts three choral ensembles, teaches Advanced Placement Music Theory, and serves as musical director. Under his direction, Cambridge Choirs have received superior ratings and top prizes in festivals and adjudications. His students are regularly selected for All National and All State Honor Choirs.
Mr. Van Dyke has taught in both the Georgia and New Jersey public school systems. Before moving to Georgia, he was Director of Choral Activities at Ocean Township High School and Interim Director of Music at Tower Hill First Presbyterian Church.
Originally from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Mr. Van Dyke holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Delaware and a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from Westminster Choir College. While at Westminster, he served as Graduate Conductor for the renowned Westminster Symphonic Choir, conducting and assisting in preparation for concerts with the New York Philharmonic, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. While conducting the Symphonic choir, he was also responsible for the preparation and performance of the North American premiere of Jaako Mäntijarvi’s dramatic work Kouta.
An active tenor, Mr. Van Dyke sings with local and professional choral ensembles. He regularly performs with the Cecilia Ensemble, the Choral Pickup, and the Johns Creek Chorale. He has performed as a featured soloist in Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Ēriks Ešenvalds’ Passion and Resurrection, and Charpentier’s Litanies a la Vierge.
Mr. Van Dyke has worked and studied with Joe Miller, Amanda Quist, James Jordan, Paul Head, Jerry McCoy, Daniel Bara, Deanna Joseph, and Christine Bass.
Mr. Van Dyke lives in Canton, GA with his wife Kristen and their dog Mosby.
